In the meantime, here's a link to John Mark Hicks' unpublished and unpresented publication, "Women in the Assembly: 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 (it's a Microsoft Word file download) and another to an archive article I posted today on the New Wineskins site from the fourth issue in 1992: The New Woman: Silena Holman and the Question of Women's Rights.
Apparently this issue was very much in evidence in the early days of the Restoration Movement.

I agree with Keith on the point that Christians (or Christianity) should lead in this point, equal opportunity for responding to God's calling, and we should lead in many other points as well.
I think unity in the body of Christ is still a major goal to be worked out, yet it cannot be to the exclusion of people through what we have no influence over, like race, gender, birth status. This seems to be so clear and evident, yet we have to continually point it out.
What are some ways this group/Forum can get us connected and actively moving forward in this area?
