I agree, Vicki. ;)

Hard to have a discussion when everyone is agreement, eh?

Well, Mark ... Peter obviously never visited Corinth. We can't all use our gifts. It'd be absolute chaos. Sons and daughters prophesying - as if some obscure passage in Joel had suddenly come true ... women and men correcting powerful preachers about subjects like baptism in their own homes ... women laboring side-by-side with evangelists like Paul ... lions and lambs lying down side by side ... dogs and cats living together ... well, it'd just be a sign of the apocalypse for sure.

Mark,
Good thoughts and I agree with them 100%.
It has been rather quiet here in recent months!

This blog needs a jumpstart.
I read 1 Peter 4:7-10 recently, and although I had read it many times in my 52 years, it was the first time I saw its clear implications for gender justice. Here's how it reads: "(7)The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. [8] Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. [9] Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. [10] Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. (NIV)
If I'm understanding Peter correctly, he's telling me in verse 10 that it is a serious error to prevent or preclude the exercise of a person's gift. Such a waste! How much better it would be for EVERY believer to be given EVERY opportunity to use EVERY gift that person has, in order to be a blessing to the church and to all the world.
