Wiley - I was at the GST just after your daughter. (Sorry the reply has taken so long - there was a move half way across the country and an amazing lot of work to get ready for the new semester in the new job).

Teresa KP has posted a neat thesis on her blog as she counts down the days til graduation at ACU. Interesting takes on Deborah, Barak, Sisera and Jael. From her summation:
"God chooses, as seen throughout the Bible, unlikely people. Women, Gentiles, even children are not out of bounds for Him. ... What kind of God would cast a woman to play such an integral role in such a complex play?"

Thanks for the "Silenced Women" link, Chris.

Our readers might be interested in Loes Tam's new web site called Ministry to Silenced Women. Tam grew up in a Reformed church in the Netherlands and later worked with a Baptist church in Hong Kong. Now living in the UK, she is concerned about the strict view that so many churches have concerning the roles of women. Like gal328, Ministry to Silenced Women is oriented toward conservatvie Christians and emphasizes the Bible. My favorite entry is The Liberating Gospel. Check out this site and watch for it to grow.

Jen,
My daughter Shannon Clarkson Rains completed her MA in Christian Ministry from ACU in 2002 (I think). Did you know her? She was an ACU grad in Agricultrue in 1998, and went straight to ACU Graduate School for two years (Fall, 1998, 1999, & Fall 2000 --I think) and then went into Childrens Ministry at Turnpike CoC in Grand Prairie in Feb. 2001 while commuting to ACU until she finished here MA. After 1.5 years off work, she is now the CM at Kingwood CoC near Houston and we will be moving her and her family to their new residence down there next week.

I've kept up with the forum here for awhile and thought I'd finally chime in with a quick intro.
Born, raised, and ministering in the C/C heritage - I have worked in Campus Ministry since 2002 and completed my MA in Christian Ministry from ACU. I am finishing up working with a campus ministry in Manhattan, KS this weekend and then making the trek west to coordinate the Spiritual Life Advisors program at Pepperdine.

Katie, I'm so glad to hear things are going well!
I love the idea of vestments. Remember chatting to the MDivs/MAs at ACU a few years ago, and one of the questions you fielded was, "What do you wear?" We all laughed then, but I have since realized, it's a real challenge...Trying to find something nice, that says to people, I take this seriously, without so overdressing that you look pretentious or full of yourself--and all this when my wardrobe basically consists of blue jeans and Tshirts that date back to Harding (or in some cases, high school). Vestments are a nice way out of that conundrum.
Keep us all updated! Jen
