Hi everyone,
In case you were trying to access the site in the last few days, our host's servers were down. They have corrected the problem. Our apologies for the inconvenience. :-)
Is anyone going to Pepperdine this year?

I received the following announcement from D'Esta Love, Chaplain of Pepperdine University. Please pass this information along to women ministers you know who might want to attend. And let's all pray for the event. --Chris

Hi friends,
Many of you are aware of the difficult journey that Joe, Laura, Sophia, and baby Ira Hays have been experiencing for several months, and that they will enter a new phase tomorrow. Joe in particular has been a very important part of the Gal328 community since its inception, so I want to ask that each of you to be in prayer tomorrow for them and their extended families who have gathered to support them. Perhaps even consider fasting on their behalf as Laura is induced and the doctors determine if baby Ira is a candidate for surgery.
Joe, our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with you all in all of this.

ISTM that, after reading his write up, there is approval in the congregation for this type of branding, legalism, and public humiliation. Too many of us just go along with and never really say anything or take a stand EXCEPT in our blogs and online discussion groups.
That is a really sad story. I pray she doesn't go the way of the little girl in the story in Floyd Rose's book, "An Idea Whose Time As Come".

I don't know how to contact, reassure and comfort the young lady described in this entry of LV Mouser's blog, but I will certainly pray for her, and I beg your prayers, too.

Most Gal328 forum readers are aware that moderate Baptists are also engaged in debates about ordaining women. You might enjoy reading a sermon by Chuck Poole, titled "We Ordain Women Because We Baptize Girls." The sermon was delivered on March 4 at the opening of the meeting of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia, in Rome, Georgia. It appears in the April 2005 edition of the Baptist Studies Bulletin, an emagazine of the Mercer University Center for Baptist Studies. You can find it online at: http://www.mercer.edu/baptiststudies/sermon/poole01.htm. Thanks to Don Haymes for pointing out the link to me.

Wow, she stirred up a couple, didn't she. BTW, for anyone who is interested, Katie has allowed me to post her blog comments (I am not a Feminist) to by web page "Where the Spirit Leads". Just though I'd pass that along. Her blog comments really fit well in my narrative.
grace to you and peace.

Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know that after we left lots of comments on Katie Rigg's blog, she received a couple from an individual who looked down upon her gifts and talents as a woman in ministry. Those comments were difficult for me to read, and likely discouraging to Katie. I thought maybe some of you would like to know, and perhaps encourage her with some more thoughts.

All's quiet on the blog front.
I've been spending a lot of time these days over in the Boston University School of Theology Library. Every time I'm there I walk past this stained glass window dedicated to Anna Howard Shaw. Check out her story and the center that's named for her here: http://www.bu.edu/sth/shaw/
I also came across an interesting blog from a woman at one of our schools who is working through her own thoughts on women in ministry: http://katieriggs.blogspot.com/
Maybe you all will have some thoughts to share.
Peace, Chad
