Worship Program Statement
The Stamford Church of Christ is a multi-racial, gender-inclusive Church of Christ. We honor as our spiritual heritage those attempts that began in America early in the 19th century to restore the life and spirit of Christianity as envisioned by Jesus and his apostles. So we are community of believer—disciples of Jesus—who have confessed their faith in him and been baptized into him. And we take seriously his teachings and their implications for the world in which we live.
From their beginnings Churches of Christ have been Òlocally owned and operated.Ó We have no denominational organization or headquarters. So there are things we do that other Churches of Christ may not, and things that other Churches of Christ may do that we do not. As the result of much study of Scripture, for instance, we do not restrict roles or assign privilege or status on the basis of birth. We believe that God judges all people everywhere not by the categories of their physical births but by the maturity of their spiritual rebirths.
By way of further introducing our church family we invite visitors to pick up in our lobby the leaflets “Introducing the Stamford Church of Christ,” “Introducing the Gospel,” “How Do I Become a Member of the Stamford Church of Christ,” “Neither Male nor Female,” and ÒSeven Questions.Ó
